Beloved daughter Cambodia

So this is personal. Again. Cambodia Lotus flowers. This painting for me really began years ago when I traveled to Cambodia and Thailand on a trip with the Set Free Movement. This painting is part of my flower series titled 'Beloved Daughters' from around the world. Each flower representing a country where many girls and women are caught in the sex trade and slavery. The industry in Cambodia preying on girls as young as 4 years old. While there in 2011, I met with several ministries and amazing humans helping rescue and equip His precious ones, while there is no quick 'fix' or process. My heart felt ripped open and surrounded by oppressive atmospheres in many dark places around the cities and villages of Cambodia. But not without hope. We met ministries like International Justice Mission and Agape international that bring the light, restoration, and law enforcement help to protect the girls. This painting below has taken a long time for me to finish, in that I did not know how to present it without my heart only feeling the loss. The flowers present but not seemingly filled with hope yet. As soon as I was inspired to add the gold leafing recently, and NAME 'Beloved Daughter' in the Khmer language, I knew it had finally found peace and hope and purpose. So i feel like it is with the process of healing for the daughters around the world pulled out of the evil of trafficking. My prayer in this painting is that the original beauty of the flowers, that has always been there, will be found, enhanced and redeemed and with the gold, the love and hope of Father God as He encounters them completely. That same love and hope He longs to bestow on all of us. I pray you experience the tension, while viewing this painting, of knowing the story of suffering, but more than that, the golden hope that infiltrates every dark space. That hope that breathes over it all. Please continue to pray for the beloved daughters of Cambodia still trapped in bondage, and those in the healing process.
