Originally created as a commission piece , Matanuska Peak has become one of my favorite ‘surprise’ paintings, where a heart appeared in the painting when I was finished and didn’t even notice. Appropriately so, since the cause of the commission was perfectly in line with this ‘happy accident’.

This painting is from the Northwest series done in mixed media, which were created as a type of ‘living prayer’ for the places around the valley I grew up in, as well as other Northwest destinations that have had special meaning and are close to my heart. Mountains have always fascinated me with the strength and beauty they represent and inspire me to create. I hope this series creates a connection for you with the peace and beauty of this part of the Northwest I call home.
