Hope. In politics?? Hope lives in you if Hope Himself lives in you! Hope lives in America because Jesus is your hope, and because He is not confined to a church building or tabernacle or place, but to His people! And if He is in his people then there is hope still. That sounds idealistic for sure, but it’s truth! Fixing our eyes on unseen and thinking about Daniel 2:21 recently as I read over my ballot.
“He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.”
No matter what happens in an election- this privilege to vote- vote and pray, I think, should never cease to amaze us! It is hard for me to see how I could call myself a Christian and not have hope for the place that I live. Jesus died for our hope. We walk in a level of surrender to His goodness, and in the end He is the only one to work all for good. Regardless of who we think should be in charge is voted in, or not He holds redemptions key. If we see what is happening around us as a spiritual battle and pray for God’s ‘kids’ no matter the political party they represent, I believe the mess that we see now would be utterly transformed.
If we call ourselves believers, then we have to pray from a place of Hope for America, not fear, bitterness, resentment or self righteousness. He placed you and me here for a reason, at this moment in history, to intercede- to pray, AND act on our crazy privilege to vote! So let’s be people of actionable hope, and speak THAT. – We are all called to pray for hope in the land we inhabit. When we pray for government…we are actually praying for PEOPLE. Not a party. Or a side. We are actually praying for A child of God that either knows Him, or does not yet know Him! My prayer is that Hope would Rise in each one that knows Him.
This is why I created the specific artwork, ‘Hope LIVES here’. Leading up to elections, I felt inspired to release this image. Red and blue,, side by side filled with hope. Silver surrounds the colors with it’s symbolic nature of redemption. So today, wherever you are as you read this, please take a moment to pray for America, and vote. Remember Hope Himself lives in you, and that makes all the difference in the world!
